# How long should tires last?

It's hard to give a precise number, since mileage depends heavily on factors such as tire pressure, load on tires, road surface, temperature, and riding style. A tire ridden hard, loaded heavily, and used on rough pavement in hot weather will wear out much faster than the same tire ridden gently.

As a rough guide:
* Standard Schwalbe touring tires: roughly 1,200-3,100 miles (2,000-5,000 km)
* Marathon-family touring tires: roughly 3,700-7,500 miles (6,000-12,000 km)
* Lighter Marathon Racer / Marathon Supreme: roughly 3,100-5,600 miles (5,000-9,000 km)
* Marathon Plus: often well over 6,200 miles (10,000 km), among the longest-lasting tires available
* Schwalbe One racing tires: roughly 1,900-4,300 miles (3,000-7,000 km)

Useful mileage estimates are typically not provided for MTB tires — riding style and terrain have too much influence.
